Thanks for checking in with us by visiting our web site. Please allow me to share a few facts with you about our church. Durant Chapel is a traditional Southern Baptist Church. We have just celebrated our 100th anniversary and remain excited about what the Lord is doing now and is going to do in the future as we continue to serve Him. We enjoy a great Christian fellowship as we relate to each other through the love of the Lord and as we cooperate with each other in His work. One of the greatest blessings my wife and I have ever received is the joyful privilege to serve this wonderful church and to be a part of this loving family.
Durant Chapel is the eighth church I have served as Senior Pastor in my more than fifty years of ministry. My preaching style is primarily expository (explaining/teaching the Scriptures). Usually I preach a series of messages and often work through an entire book of the Bible at a time. On Wednesday nights I lead in a Bible study which involves verse by verse expository teaching through a book of the Bible. During the past two years we have worked through many of the letters of Paul on Wednesday nights. I am very conservative in my theology and believe the Bible is the holy, inerrant, infallible Word of God. I am totally supportive of our Southern Baptist statement of faith as printed in the “Baptist Faith and Message – 2000,” and of the Cooperative Program of Southern Baptists (Durant Chapel gives 11% of all undesignated gifts through the Cooperative Program to support Baptist Causes). Also, I am completely dedicated to personal evangelism (leading people to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior) and to local and international missions.
